Houses Alberta's One Per Cent, High Income Earners, Can Afford

It is no secret that Alberta's rich are known for their wealth and oil money, and according to a report released on Monday they've only gotten richer.

According to a report on income trends released by Statistics Canada, Alberta accounts for just over 20 per cent of income earned by Canada's top one per cent.

Alberta's share of one percent-ers also doubled from 10 to 20 per cent between 1990 and 2010.

Four provinces -- Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia and Alberta -- accounted for 92 per cent of the 254,700 people in the top one per cent of income earners in Canada.

The oil rich province is known for its high-paying jobs and luxurious homes. From Calgary and Edmonton to Fort McMurray and Red Deer, the dwellings of Alberta's one per cent are extravagant with spectacular views of mountain vistas, lakes or ravines.
