The president of Dormez-vous is expressing shock over last night's attack on the company's Pointe-Claire warehouse.
Police are investigating what they say is arson and vandalism after they were called to the mattress warehouse on Hymus Boulevard near Des Sources Boulevard shortly after midnight.
In a statement sent out this afternoon, Dormez-vous said it was fortunate no employees were on the premises at the time of the incident.
“This is a shocking and unexplained situation but we are thankful nobody was hurt," said the company's president Stewart Schaefer.
Bergeron said police were called to the scene after an alarm went off because of a broken window.
"When we arrived on the scene, we noticed possible accelerant was used trying to light up a fire, but it consumed itself so it didn't cause much damage," he said.
Bergeron said there was also graffiti painted on the storefront but officers have covered it up and will not divulge what it said.
Thanks to the sprinkler and alarm systems, which went off immediately, the damage to the reception area of the warehouse was limited.
Bergeron said police do not have a description of the suspect in this case but they will be looking at video surveillance footage from the area.
