Crooner k.d. lang will be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame this year as part of the 2013 Juno Awards ceremonies taking place in Regina, Saskatchewan.

"To be included in the lineage of Canadian artists who have formed my musical DNA and who remain my mentors, is beyond humbling, the artist said in a statement today. "I am deeply honoured to be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame."

Melanie Berry, the President and CEO of CARAS (Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences) and the JUNO Awards, said lang was a worthy inductee. "A gift to music, k.d. lang's voice is an instrument unto itself — uniquely beautiful and haunting. I join millions of Canadians and music fans around the world in congratulating one of our most accomplished singer-songwriters of all time."

Lang, a native of Edmonton who released her first album "A Truly Western Experience" back in 1984, adds the honour to her eight Juno and four Grammy Awards. In 1997, Lang received the Order of Canada and in 2008 had her name placed on Canada's Walk of Fame. Last year's inductees were Blue Rodeo, and other recent inductees include Shania Twain, April Wine, Loverboy and Bryan Adams. The first two inductees into the hall were the late Guy Lombardo and the late Oscar Peterson in 1978.
