Heart Truth show on schedule for Toronto's World MasterCard Fashion Week

TORONTO - The ladies in red are returning to the runway at Toronto's Fashion Week.

The Heart Truth Fashion Show, which raises awareness for heart health, is on the preliminary calendar for next month's World MasterCard Fashion Week, announced Friday by IMG Fashion.

The high-profile showcase features notable women — and occasionally men — from the worlds of stage, screen and sports wearing crimson-coloured ensembles.

While organizers have staged the Heart Truth show at Toronto's Carlu the past two years, the event was last held under the Fashion Week tents in 2010, where newly minted Olympic medallists Joannie Rochette and Ashleigh McIvor took to the runway. The recently-wrapped New York Fashion Week also featured its own Heart Truth runway show.

Meanwhile, a full roster of homegrown designers from across Canada will be showcasing fall 2013 collections at Toronto's semi-annual style showcase.

Affordable apparel brand Joe Fresh, sportswear label Bustle, leather goods retailer Rudsak and Mercedes-Benz Start Up winner Duy Nguyen are set to return to the runway to present their latest looks.

Ashtiani by Golnaz Ashtiani, Christopher Bates, Korhani Home, Lacerda, Line Knitwear, Mackage, MIZ by Izzy Camilleri, Pink Tartan and Stephen Caras are also slated to showcase their lines.

The Collections featuring shows from sibling design duo Chloe comme Parris, Laura Siegel, Sid Neigum, Klaxon Howl, Matthew Gallagher and Thomas Balint are also no the calendar.

World MasterCard Fashion Week will be held from March 18-22.
