A Vancouver carjacking wrecked several vehicles, snarled rush hour traffic and put a woman in hospital on Tuesday afternoon.
An man forced the woman into the passenger seat of her car near Kingsway and Boundary Road around 4 p.m., said Vancouver police Sgt. Randy Fincham in a news release.
The man crashed the car into four vehicles including two buses. The spree ended when the man crashed into a third car at Tyne Street and 50th Avenue. The suspect then took off on foot.
The 31-year-old woman chased the suspect, but lost him. She suffered a knee injury. Police used dogs to track the suspect, but his trail was lost though a residential neighbourhood.
The man is described to be white, in his 30s and 5'8" tall with a skinny build and shaved head.
He was wearing a cream coloured shirt, black pants with an orange or yellow jacket, according to police.
Carjackings are not uncommon in the Lower Mainland.
On Feb. 15, police arrested an alleged carjacking suspect after a woman was threatened at knifepoint near in Vancouver's Coal Harbour neighbourhood, reported The Vancouver Sun.
