Green party leader in New Brunswick calls for premiers summit

FREDERICTON - The leader of the provincial Green party in New Brunswick is calling for a premiers summit to talk about what he describes as the prime minister's "relentless attack" on the Maritimes.

David Coon says political leaders in the region should be talking about cuts to Via Rail and changes to the employment insurance system.

Coon also says Canada's environmental protection system deserves a closer look.

The party leader says the four premiers need to form a common front against Stephen Harper's governing Conservatives in Ottawa.
