In a span of 24 hours, Vancouver police arrested and charged three different car thieves with theft and possession of stolen property, said a Tuesday news release.

On 3 a.m. on Sunday morning, Gibsons resident Shawn Gregory Nichols was arrested in a Toyota Landcruiser that had been reported stolen from downtown Vancouver the previous day.

At about 5:30 p.m. the same day, police arrested Justin Gordon Brett after he allegedly stole a bottle from a liquor store and tried to get into a stolen Honda Civic. A store clerk stopped him from getting into the car and police arrested him a few blocks away.

The third incident saw police arrest a Surrey resident at about 4 a.m. after an officer saw him driving what he believed was a stolen pickup truck on Highway 1 through the Cassiar tunnel. Police followed the truck into Burnaby, where it crashed into a hedge. The driver fled his vehicle but a police dog caught up with him.
