On Tuesday afternoon, Catholic cardinals from around the world began the conclave that will elect the next Pope. A few hours later black smoke emerged from the chimney of the Sistine Chapel, indicating that the group have not reached the necessary two-thirds to elect a new Pontiff.

While the conclave might a serious place, those following the conclave on-line were a little less serious. Jokes about the black smoke flooded Twitter, with many making comparisons to the smoke monster on TV show Lost, barbecues and at least one pot reference. We've got a feeling the cardinals aren't hot-boxing in the Sistine Chapel.

Remember white smoke means we've got a new pope. Black smoke means the cardinals have to stay locked in for a bit longer and decide which one of them has to leave the island.
