Two people have been found dead in Surrey, B.C., in the same area where other bodies have been dumped this year.

Police found a man's body near the area of Colebrook Road and 125A Street at around 2 a.m. Wednesday. A search aided by a police dog uncovered a woman's body nearby, said a Wednesday news release from police.

The pair were victims of foul play, said the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, which continues to investigate.

"Until the identity has been determined investigators will not know the connection, if any, today's victims have to each other or to the other two victims found recently in this area," Sgt. Jennifer Pound said.

Officers have added the area to their regular patrol since two other bodies were found in the area, reported B.C. CTV.

The RCMP found Amritpal Saran's burned body on Colebrook Road on Feb. 24. Police discovered the body of Jaskaran Singh Sandhu in January.

Officers were also called to the area in October 2012 to investigate a serious assault of a sex trade worker. Last month, they released sketches of two suspects wanted in the attack. The female victim was picked up in north Surrey and then driven to a secluded area on Colebrook Road where she was sexually and physically assaulted, leaving her with serious injuries, said RCMP.

Surrey has had eight homicides since the beginning of 2013 — more than double the rate of neighbouring Vancouver.

Surrey Mayor Dianne Watts told The Vancouver Sun that she will be speaking to the RCMP about more proactive measures like increased lighting and surveillance cameras. Colebrook Road is an isolated area surrounded by farmer's fields and train tracks with few homes nearby, reported The Sun.
