Saskatchewan Kijiji Ad Offers Free Snow As Winter Weather Sets Snowfall Record

LOOK: Saskatchewan Is So Ready To Break Up With Winter
Kijiji

If a recent Kijiji ad is any indication, Saskatchewan residents are getting tired of the seemingly endless cold temperatures and blizzard conditions that have been blasting the province this winter.

The ad, posted over the weekend and since taken down, sought someone to come take away "1,000,000" cubic feet of 100% natural, biodegradable, Saskatchewan made snow."

"Perfect for: Sno-Kones, desert revitalization projects, the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, igloo-style affordable housing, you name it!

You shovel it, you haul it away!" the ad joked.

Posted alongside a photo of what appeared to be someone's backyard blanketed in deep snow, the ad encouraged "serious enquiries only," adding that the offer won't last long - "In 4-6 months it could be gone!"

People aross Saskatchewan have been shovelling since autumn, after a record amount of snow fell during the 2012-2013 season.

According to CBC Saskatchewan, Regina received a whopping 196 centimetres of snow since late fall and in some places in the province 60 to 70 centimetres remain on the ground - a record for this time of year.

"It began early, it stayed late and clearly has been the dominant kind of weather ... cold and snow," Dave Phillips, senior climatologist for Environment Canada told CBC.

People across Saskatchewan chimed in on Twitter Monday, using the hashtag #breakingupwithwinter to express their desire to part ways with the frosty season.

"Winter, we had a long 6 months but I'm just not feeling it anymore. I want to philander with the other seasons," tweeted @CourtenyP.

"Pfft. I broke up with Winter six weeks ago. I'm now filing for a restraining order," quipped @jasonfedorchuk.
