Ralph Klein Memorial Set For Jack Singer Concert Hall On Friday

Klein's Memorial Open To Public, Invited Guests

Ralph Klein's memorial will be held on Friday in Calgary at the Jack Singer Concert Hall and Prime Minister Stephen Harper is expected to attend the event.

The city was still finalizing details about the "Celebration Of Life" though it did say that there would be invited guests and seating for the public. The concert hall seats 1,800 people.

Family friend Rod Love told media after the former premier died on Friday that Klein's family was offered but declined a state funeral.

"Mrs. Klein and the family say he walked into the Old Calgary City Hall as a 26-year-old kid reporter and Mrs. Klein just said that's where it all started and that's where I want it to end," Love told The Canadian Press on Saturday.

Sun News reported that the Prime Minister was expected to attend.

Meanwhile, tributes continue to flow into a page the Alberta government set up for public messages.
