Ralph Klein Funeral Procession: Motorcade And Memorial Details Released

Klein To Get A Very Public Funeral Procession

A funeral procession is planned for the late Ralph Klein, as Albertans get ready to pay their respects to the former premier on Friday.

Rolling road closures will be in effect as the motorcade makes its way to the McDougall Centre, then to Municipal Plaza and onto the Epcor Centre, the City of Calgary announced.

Rolling closures will affect 5 Avenue throughout the morning, while Macleod Trail will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. between 6 and 9 Avenue, the city said.

The city has also announced that general seating cards -- for memorial service, which will be held at the Jack Singer Concert Hall -- will be distributed to those in line outside the hall's main entrance starting at 9 a.m.

Doors to the service will open at 10:30 a.m., with all in attendance seated by 11:15 a.m.

Overflow seating will be made available and the service will be broadcast live, the city said.

This event will be hosted by the City of Calgary at the request of the Klein family and will be open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.
