Bollywood star Abhishek Bachchan is full of praise for Vancouver after he and wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan touched down in the city Tuesday for the Times of Indian Film Awards (TOIFA) this week.
Bachchan said Vancouver has been "stunning", Vancouver Desi reports. He's slated to hit the stage at the gala awards on Saturday with his superstar wife. It's her first international performance after the birth of their daughter Aaradhya.
Bachchan visited Vancouver as a child with his father, Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan, and he said holding the film awards in the city is a great opportunity to reach a new audience, The Vancouver Sun reports.
But Bachchan isn't the only one enjoying his time in metro Vancouver so far. Bollywood actress Neha Dhupia tweeted that the long flight to Vancouver was worth it because the city gave her a "warm welcome" when she arrived.
TOIFA events start Thursday and end with the red carpet, awards gala Saturday at BC Place Stadium.
The B.C. government has invested $9.5 million on the three-day event, which the premier boasts will boost ties between India and the province.
