Death outside Vancouver pub not a murder, say police

Police have determined that the death of a 47-year-old man outside Vancouver's Ivanhoe Pub last month was not the result of a murder.

On March 1, William David Floyd was involved in an altercation on Main Street near National Avenue after he was ejected from the pub around 10 p.m. PT.

Officers were called and found Floyd unresponsive when they arrived. Paramedics then rushed him to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A 50-year-old man was taken into custody but an investigation by the Vancouver Police Major Crime Section has determined there was no evidence to indicate it was a murder.

Police said no criminal charges will be laid.
