TOIFA Vancouver: Shahrukh Khan To Perform With Shoulder Injury

Bollywood 'Brad Pitt' Teases Fans

Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan will perform in the opening act of the Times of India Film Awards (TOIFA) on Saturday despite suffering from a shoulder injury.

“I’ve have been shooting for 14 days non-stop and on top of it I hurt myself,” Khan told the Times of India.

Khan, 47, arrived in Vancouver on Friday and was immediately greeted a crowd of loud, anxious fans. Looking sharp, the actor sported a black blazer, blue jeans and a scarf, complete with sleek aviator sunglasses.

Khan was quick to tell reporters about reuniting with friends and colleagues at Saturday's award show.

“I like awards and I appreciate them,” Khan told Apunka Choice. “I feel most of the awards that we have in India are for years of work that we have done, rather just one show. And above all that, it’s nice to see the (film) community together.”

Khan's popularity as a performer and actor has also made him one of the wealthiest men in Bollywood, according to Forbes India.

In January, Khan was crowned Bollywood’s highest-paid celebrity by Forbes India, earning $37-million CAD between October 2011 and September 2012. With wealth, good looks and monikers like “King Khan” and “Bollywood's Brad Pitt,” Khan remains humble.

“I have never done it because of money. I am all right losing money but I live to the purpose of the business which is to give happiness,” Khan told Forbes India.

Tickets have not sold out for Saturday’s gala at BC Place, according to TOIFA spokesperson Laura Ballance. Organizers expect between 20,000 to 30,000 people to attend the event.
