The latest Canadian TV personality to head south of the border may surprise you: it's CBC darling George Stroumboulopoulos, who's heading to CNN to host an as-yet-untitled interview series.
CBC's executive vice-president of English services, Kirstine Stewart, confirmed via Twitter that the adored talk-show host is indeed heading to the U.S. for the series:
The new 10-episode, 60-minute show is set to air Fridays in primetime starting early in the summer of 2013. It will shoot in Los Angeles in front of a live audience.
Stroumboulopoulos is not leaving his post at CBC, where he's the host of "George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight."
As you may recall, Strombo also hosted the ill-fated "The One: Making A Music Star" back in 2006.
CORRECTION: A previous version of this article stated that "George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight," formerly known as "The Hour," was broadcast in the U.S. in 2005, when in fact the show has never been aired in the United States. We regret the error.
