A Vancouver man has pleaded guilty to the fatal beating of his German Shepherd, Captain, and will be sentenced this summer.
Brian Whitlock, 26, entered the plea Tuesday and will be sentenced in June, The Province reported.
Whitlock was released on several conditions and Crown lawyers are seeking a psychiatric report on him before he's sentenced, the Vancouver Sun reported.

Captain was found wrapped in a bloody blanket in a Kitsilano dumpster last July and later died of his injuries, CBC reported.
Whitlock's guilty plea shows that the Society for the Protection and Care of Animals (SPCA) put together a strong case, but it also spares people the "emotional turmoil" of a trial, spokeswoman Marcie Moriarty told the network.
