Angered by cuts delivered to post-secondary education by the latest provincial budget, faculty and students from Mount Royal University took their protest right to the steps of Alberta Premier Alison Redford's Calgary office.
Approximately 700 Mount Royal University students appeared at Redford's Calgary office on Wednesday, CTV News reported.
Those protesting were motivated by fear their education is being eroded by the latest round of cuts, Wolfgang Knox, of the MRU Student Empowerment Committee, told CTV News.
"I personally believe my program is going to be affected and that worries me because when I come out of university I have far less of a competitive degree to be able to go on to graduate school, or work in various industries, because of such factors," he said.
"We feel we are very much the way of the future. We need to be trusted, and respected."

MRU Cuts Protest
Chanting, "no ifs, no buts, no education cuts," the students marched from the university campus to Redford's Calgary-Elbow constituency office, The Calgary Sun reported.
Some of the protesters held signs that read "education not edu-cuts" and "education cuts never heal."
Gerry Cross, president of the MRU Faculty Association, told the Calgary Herald he was proud of the turn-out.
Faculty members who took part in the protest said they were concerned about the new timetable imposed on the school.
Students won't be able to register for classes until April 29, which they believe will result in cuts to programs and a decrease in student enrollment, The Calgary Sun reported.
Protesters also dropped off a multi-page petition to Redford's office that calls for the cuts to be rescinded.
The Redford government's spring budget includes 147 million dollars in spending cuts to universities, colleges and institutes.
