Shaw Q2 profit, revenue up slightly; free cash flow rises on lower spending

CALGARY - Shaw Communications Inc. (TSX:SJR.B) says it had $182 million or 38 cents per share of net income and $1.25 billion of revenue in the quarter ended Feb. 28, both up slightly from the same time last year. The Calgary-based company also said its free cash flow tripled to $161 million from $57 million in the year-earlier period as a result of lower capital spending. Shaw says it's raising its 2013 forecast for free cash flow to $550 million, with capital spending weighted to the second half of this financial year but remain below 2012.
