Dayleen Van Ryswyk felt the wrath of Twitter Tuesday after she was forced to resign from her NDP candidacy over comments she posted to an online site that were harshly critical of First Nations and French people.
The B.C. Liberals called on Van Ryswyk to resign Tuesday over her "hateful" comments after the online comments surfaced. The post that bore Van Ryswyk's name included comments that Canadians have been "paying out the nose" for First Nations, and that "if their ancestors sold out too cheap it’s not my fault," the party said in a news release.
About French people she said, "Seems the only group of people universally hated around the world other than the Americans are the french and FRENCH CANADIANS…the bigots are the french and not us…"
Twitter user @JRMarlow said that Van Ryswyk's comments would be "pretty uncontroversial in Alberta," while @ryneldstarr tweeted that the candidate "should have been in the Conservative Party considering the topics of her posts."
