Suspicious Package In Pointe Claire Creates Traffic Delays

Police say a suspicious package in Pointe-Claire is harmless, following an investigation carried out by a special police tactical unit and several technicians.

Investigators were alerted after the package was spotted by a passerby shortly after 12:30 p.m. in the Esso station parking lot near the corner of Saint-Jean and Brunswick boulevards.

Traffic and public transit were snarled for part of the afternoon as police established a wide security perimeter near the intersection, which is alongside the Fairview Pointe-Claire shopping centre and Fairview bus terminal.

Some of the entrances to the shopping centre were also blocked off.

Officers have removed the security perimeter, and traffic is expected to return to normal in time for the evening commute.
