Male wounded, officers escape injury, in shooting involving Edmonton police

EDMONTON - An investigation is underway after a shooting involving police in Edmonton.

Police say the early morning shooting happened when officers responded to a weapons call on the city's west side.

They say a male suspect was wounded, but no officers were hurt.

The condition of the wounded male was not immediately known.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team, or ASIRT, has taken over the investigation.

The team looks into incidents or complaints involving serious injury or death of any person that may have resulted from the actions of a police officer.
