Jeff Richards had the three goals for Kenora, which improved to 1-2 at Canada's senior amateur men's hockey championship.
Jon Poirier and Sean McAslan added a goal and an assist each, while Matt Johnson, Mike English and Tom Biondich also scored. Ryan Person made 26 saves to get the win.
David Alexander and Jeff Shipton had the goals for Fort St. John (1-2), which got 30 saves from Troy Hunt.
In Thursday's other game, the Rosetown Red Wings topped the Stony Plain Eagles 4-1.
Richards opened the scoring 44 seconds into the first period, and after English and Biondich scored just under nine minutes apart, Richards added his second of the game at 12:43 to make it 4-0.
McAslan made it 5-0 at 18:58 and Johnson rounded out the onslaught with 13 seconds left in the period.
Poirier stretched the lead to seven at 5:53 of the second before Alexander got the Flyers on the board at 11:22.
But Richards completed his hat trick with 52 seconds left in the period.
Shipton rounded out the scoring by cutting the Flyers' deficit to 8-2 with a power-play goal at 5:54 of the third.
Meanwhile in the other game, Casey Lee scored twice for the Red Wings (2-1), who also got goals from Luke Hunter and J.J. Hunter.
David Spooner made 10 saves to get the win.
Chevan Wilson had the only goal for Stony Plain (0-3), which got 28 saves from Wade Waters.
