Manning Park ski resort sold to new owner

The Manning Park ski resort located near Hope, B.C. has been sold.

The facility was to close permanently on April 1 after racking up $4.2 million in debt over several years.

But on Thursday, a court appointed sale to Sunshine Valley RV Resorts and Cabin was approved.

The new owner, Kevin Demers, says he hopes to turn the business around.

"We have bought and sold quite a few RV resorts. We feel that we have a formula that works to maximize what we can do there with customer service, with efficiencies with staff training and hospitality," Demers said.

"We know that it was successful at one time. We believe we can do that again."

About 15 full-time employees are still in jeopardy of losing their jobs, but Demers says he hopes to hire more staff.

The Manning Park ski resort is approximately 70 km southeast of Hope, along B.C. Highway 3, within E.C. Manning Provincial Park.
