An OPP news release says that an officer spotted a Lexus driving erratically when it was coming off the eastbound lanes of Highway 407 at Keele Street in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The OPP say that the officer drove up alongside the Lexus in an attempt to get the driver to stop.
But police say the driver "continued travelling slowly," despite the fact that a police cruiser was flashing its lights directly beside him.
While the officer was coming to a stop, the OPP say that his vehicle was struck on the passenger side by the Lexus.
Both vehicles suffered minor damage, but no injuries resulted.
A 35-year-old Toronto man now faces six charges, including impaired operation of a motor vehicle, driving while under suspension and failing to stop for police.
The accused is due to appear in court next month.
Police are looking for witnesses to the overnight incident.
