Crane Operator Provides New View Of Toronto

Robert MacFarlane
Toronto crane operator Robert MacFarlane is becoming something of a local celebrity, partly because of his job.

Perched hundreds of metres above the city, MacFarlane has been taking images of the city and sharing them on Twitter and Facebook.

Since February he's posted more than 1,000 photos of Toronto: after sunset, foggy mornings, Lake Ontario, even Go trains looking like pieces of Lego.

He's seen his Twitter following grow from nine to nearly 4,000.

"I posted a couple of tweets of pictures and it just sort of exploded from there," he said.

MacFarlane says he was inspired by the magnificent photos taken from space by Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield.
