First comes bassinet, then comes baby? Make that one expensive baby basket!

Kate Middleton is preparing for the birth of the future royal heir by shopping up a storm. The Duchess of Cambridge, who is expecting her and Prince William's first child in July, was spotted buying a white £295 (or about $500) bassinet from exclusive UK baby store Blue Almonds in London.

That's not all Duchess Kate bought; the 31-year-old was also seen buying a blue Bugaboo buggy, prompting royal baby-watchers to say that Middleton is expecting a boy, even though the couple have said they don't know the sex of their child. (Can't girls wear blue too??)

Wearing blue skinny jeans, black boots and a loose navy top with a white lace collar, Kate looked ready to get down to business and buy everything her baby needs.

Even Kate's mom Carole Middleton was spotted in action, helping out her daughter carry the bassinet to their car. Maybe Carole is trying to show Kate the benefits of having grandparents around. New reports say that the Duchess is not moving in with her parents once the baby is born.

We're sure that Kate and William will have plenty of help once their royal bundle-of-joy arrives!

Kate sure was cute when she was a little girl:
