Cessna pilot killed in Mont-Laurier plane crash

One man is dead after the small plane he was piloting crashed at the regional Mont-Laurier airport in the Laurentians.

Shortly after take-off, the plane went down near the runway in a wooded area.

The small airplane, a Cessna 185F, caught fire after it crashed at about 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The 54-year-old man is believed to have been the only person on board.

The cause of the crash remains unclear.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is investigating.
