Pilot, 54, dead after Cessna crashes in wooded area north of Montreal

MONT-LAURIER, Que. - The pilot of a small plane has died after it plunged into a wooded area in Quebec's Laurentians north of Montreal.

The 54-year-old Montreal man, who hasn't been identified, was flying a Cessna plane from the Mont-Laurier airport on Saturday afternoon.

Gregory Gomez, a spokesman for Quebec provincial police, says the accident happened shortly after takeoff.

Gomez says the plane burst into flames after it crashed.

It's still unclear what caused the accident.

The Transportation Safety Board has dispatched a team of investigators to the scene.
