Lokeren goalie Copa likely to miss rest of season after concussion from goalpost crash

BRUSSELS - The Belgian league goalkeeper who was briefly knocked out when he crashed head-first into a goalpost will likely miss the rest of the season.

Lokeren goalkeeper Barry Boubacar Copa was back home on Tuesday after spending two days in hospital to see if there was any damage to his neck and skull following his accident on Sunday.

Copa was reaching for a shot in a playoff game against FC Brugge when he smashed into the goalpost, was briefly unconscious, and carried off.

Lokeren spokesman Romain Van Schoor said on Tuesday it "does not expect him to play in any of the remaining games of the playoffs," which end on May 19.
