Missing Toronto girl found in Regina, drug charges laid

A 15-year-old Toronto girl missing for a year has been located in Regina — and now stands accused of being involved in drug-dealing.

Regina police said Wednesday they found her while conducting an unrelated search April 27 on the 4500 block of Child Avenue in the city's northwest corner.

The girl was not being held at the residence, but was living there voluntarily, police said in a news release.

She has been charged with possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of cannabis, possession of the proceeds of crime and obstructing the police.

Located on April 27, the girl made her first appearance in Youth Court two days later and was back in court on May 3.

The girl had been missing since February 2012.

The Regina Police Service has notified authorities in Toronto and the girl has been in touch with her family in Toronto by phone.

The girl's name can't be released under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
