Roberto Luongo Unlikely To Remain With Canucks: Mike Gillis (TWEETS)

What Will The Canucks Do With Luongo?

Roberto Luongo is unlikely to remain the Vancouver Canucks' goaltender next year, but it's still uncertain whether Alain Vigneault will remain coach, general manager Mike Gillis told the media Thursday.

Gillis made it fairly clear that the Canucks' former number one netminder would not be back with the team, CBC Sports reporter Elliotte Friedman tweeted, but he was less committal on a coach who has been the subject of much speculation since they were swept out of the first round of the playoffs.

Asked whether Vigneault had a future with the team, Gillis said that there would be a thorough review on everyone in the organization, Global reporter Jay Durant tweeted.

Social media has exploded with fan commentary and speculation after the Canucks' first-round sweep by the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday, in which they were beaten 4-3 in overtime.

Hockey bloggers Pass It to Bulis jokingly tweeted that Vigneault would be appointed "coach-for-life," while fervent Canuck fans the "Green Men" tweeted that they're both available to help the coach clean out his office in case he's fired.
