VANCOUVER - The B.C. River Forecast Centre has issued a flood watch for parts of the south coast on Sunday, warning residents that the levels of local streams may be on the rise.
The centre has warned those near Birkenhead River to watch for flooding if rainfall levels increase.
The centre has also issued a high streamflow advisory for those near Squamish River, Lillooet River and tributary creeks through the Sea-to-Sky corridor and Pemberton Valley.
The advisory says river levels have surged since 5 p.m. Saturday due to heavy rainfall.
Additional rainfall is expected tonight, which the advisory says could lead to flooding and high water levels.
The river forecast centre says it will continue to monitor the conditions overnight.
