TABER, Alta. - A man who broke into an 89-year-old woman's home in southern Alberta and sexually assaulted her is going to prison.
Erich Shawn Johnson, also known by the last name Bartz, has been sentenced to 3 1/2 years after pleading guilty in Taber provincial court.
Police say officers went to the woman's home on March 22 after she called 911 about an intruder.
The woman fought off her attacker with scissors.
Johnson was arrested a few blocks from the victim’s home.
He remained behind bars after his arrest and received two months of credit for pre-trial custody.
