Motorcyclist dead after head-on crash on Lions Gate Bridge

A 27-year-old motorcyclist is dead after a head-on crash on Vancouver's Lions Gate Bridge.

The crash happened just before 6 p.m. PT Monday when the southbound motorcycle hit a northbound SUV.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

No one in the SUV was injured and Vancouver police say the driver is co-operating with the investigation.

Police said an "unfortunate set of circumstances" led to the crashing, adding it appears the motorcyclist lost control.

The victim's name has not been released.

The crash closed the bridge for about five hours, but traffic was moving again by 11 p.m.
