Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for the southwest portion of the province, with heavy rain expected Wednesday through Saturday morning.
Total rainfall amounts for Pincher Creek, Waterton Lakes National Park and Crowsnest Pass are expected to reach 60 to 90 millimetres over the next few days, but could top out at over 100 millimetres, says the national weather agency.
Calgarians are also warned to prepare for heavy rains in coming days.
The City of Calgary has closed the Glenmore Reservoir to recreational use, lowering the water level in anticipation of heavy rains and potential flooding.

Meteorologist Jordan Witzel told Global Calgary he anticipates between 25 and 50 mm of precipitation in Calgary between Wednesday evening and Saturday morning.
“We’re always on the edge of that rain, always getting some rain on and off through the next couple of days… but we’ll never get the heaviest rain,” he said.

Calgary normally sees about 60 millimetres of rain in the month of May, but this storm could bring that marker much higher.
While rain is forecast over the next few days for parts of central and northern Alberta, they are not included in the weather warning.
