Quebec teenager Eugenie Bouchard continued her impressive week in Strasbourg, France with a straight sets quarter-final win on Thursday against her Georgian opponent.
The 19-year-old Westmount, Que. native beat Anna Tatishvili 6-3, 6-2 at the Internationaux de Strasbourg, a claycourt tune-up for the French Open.
While most of the top players are either in training mode for the French Open or playing at the Brussels Open, it is still a major accomplishment for the Canadian in her first full year on the tour.
Specifically, it is Bouchard's first ever WTA semifinal appearance. She entered the week ranked 93rd in the world.
Bouchard on Friday will face Alizé Cornet of France or South Africa’s Chanelle Scheepers, the only two remaining seeded players in the draw.
