Alleged sexual predator's victims sought by Montreal police

Montreal Police are asking the public for help finding young victims of an alleged sexual predator.

Michael Bélanger was arrested on May 10.

The 62-year-old Lachine man is charged with luring, invitations to sexual touching, sexual interference, and possession of child pornography.

Montreal Police Const. Simon Delorme said Bélanger enticed young girls into posing nude for him in pictures and web camera videos.

Police say between July 2005 and November 2012, the suspect is accused of luring young women, and possibly young men, over the internet by using fake identities on Facebook, MSN Messenger and Skype.

According to a police statement, the accused has admitted to being involved with several other young victims.

Police are asking anyone with information about those alleged victims to come forward.

Bélanger is known to have gone by the names of Michael Adam Jones, Jake Williams, Ben Donaldson and Jonathan Cruise.

Police say victims were not limited to Quebec residents. A Montreal police statement confirms that some came from other areas in Canada, as well as overseas in Jamaica.

Investigators are encouraging anyone with information to call 911.

Police are reminding the public to be cautious when contacting strangers over the internet.

“Never accept to friend or to [connect] with somebody you never met before physically,” Delorme said.

Bélanger will be in court this morning for a bail hearing.
