Laval police made a major drug and weapons bust on Wednesday, seizing ecstasy powder, cocaine, cannabis, cash, and an automatic assault weapon.
Police with the city's anti-gang unit arrested two men carrying out a transaction in a parking lot on Boulevard Curé-Labelle, in the city's Chomedey neighbourhood.
Officers searched the vehicle, and later, the residence of one of the suspects.
They found a half-kilo of ecstasy powder, 170 grams of cocaine, 450 grams of cannabis, and a Cobray automatic weapon with ammunition. They also seized the vehicle and $21,000 cash.
The two suspects, Mey Sam Habibzadeh, 21, and Mehdi Zandi, 33, were charged Thursday with drug trafficking, possession of drugs with intent to sell, and several counts of possession of a prohibited weapon.
The accused are awaiting a bail hearing.
Laval police says anyone with more information can call 450-662-INFO.
