14 international doctors pass Saskatchewan assessment program and are working

SASKATOON - Fourteen new international doctors are now practising in Saskatchewan after going through an assessment.

The 14 went through the Saskatchewan International Physician Practice Assessment.

There are three times during the year that the assessment takes doctors — January, May and September.

Since the program began in 2011, 68 doctors have passed the assessment and are now practising in Saskatchewan.

Still, there are 113 physician positions, including specialists, that need to be filled in the province.

James Winkel, communications manager with the Physician Recruitment Agency also notes that not everyone makes it through the assessment.
