3 Vision Montreal councillors join Coderre

Montreal mayoral candidate Denis Coderre has managed to snag three new city councillors onto his team, at the expense of Louise Harel.

Three Vision Montreal councillors announced Thursday that they were joining the former Liberal MP. The defectors include Rivière-des-Prairies-Pointe-aux-Trembles borough mayor Chantal Rouleau.

"I want to be at the heart of the decisions not in the opposition," said Rouleau, who was joined by Rivière-des-Prairies-Pointe-aux-Trembles councillors Suzanne Décarie and Gilles Déziel.

Harel, Vision Montreal's leader, calls the move deplorable.

"It is unfortunate that Chantal Rouleau followed a leader without a program," she said.

Harel called Coderre's team a comeback for former mayor Gerald Tremblay's team, but under a new name. She says it's an open bar, a mix of different, conflicting positions.

The departures from her pary come just days before a major Vision Montreal party meeting, where Harel will face a confidence vote.
