Jon Montgomery, 'Amazing Race Canada' Host, Ready To Run The Show

Jon Montgomery, 'Amazing Race Canada' Host

After a long wait, "Amazing Race Canada" has finally revealed its host for the inaugural season.

Jon Montgomery (a.k.a. the red-headed Canadian Olympian who chugged that beer and sang the national anthem on the street following his 2010 gold-medal win in Vancouver) has been announced as the Season 1 host of "Amazing Race Canada." Montgomery famously won gold in the skeleton by defeating his opponent by 0.07 seconds.

His real claim to fame came after he accepted his medal, when he marched through a crowd of raucous Canadian fans, drinking from a pitcher of beer and shouting along with the mob. At that moment, he entered the Canadian Olympic canon and won a place in all our hearts.

He is a perfect fit for "Amazing Race Canada" -- he has the athletic background for credibility, as well as the personality to provide levity between oft-intense segments of The Race. Montgomery has been spotted on the course more than once in the past month.

"Amazing Race Canada" is offering the biggest prize in Canadian reality show history. Contestant pairs stand to win a lot of money, two cars and a lot of free travel with Air Canada.

"Amazing Race Canada" is set to premiere on July 15 on CTV at 9 p.m. ET. We'll be recapping episodes here at HuffPost Canada TV for the entire season!

[We included Montgomery in our candidates to be the "Amazing Race Canada" host (as below), so we're patting ourselves on the back right now.]
