SURREY, B.C. - A young boy has been transported to hospital by air ambulance and is suffering from head injuries following what police are describing as a hit and run in Surrey, B.C.
The incident took place mid-afternoon in Fleetwood, a neighbourhood in the north of the Metro Vancouver city.
RCMP Cpl. Bert Paquet says the driver was seen fleeing the area, and police are now looking for a newer model, four-door silver Mercedes, with tinted windows and large stock rims.
UPDATE: The victim, Arshdeep Sidhu, has opened his eyes and can move one leg but he remains in hospital, CBC reported. The driver of the Mercedes involved in the hit-and-run has turned himself into police, the Surrey RCMP said in a Saturday news release. The RCMP have found the Mercedes involved in the alleged hit-and-run, Global News reported.
He says the vehicle's front-right side may be damaged and the entire detachment is now on the lookout.
The condition of the boy is not yet known. (CKNW/News 1130)
