Calgary Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued; Most Of Southern Alberta Included

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Calgary, Lethbridge, Red Deer and surrounding areas.

Rainfall warnings have also been issued for areas including Airdrie, Canmore, Cochrane, Nordegg and Rocky Mountain House.

There is the potential of large hail, damaging winds, and heavy downpours developing, the weather agency adds.

Thunderstorms are expected to develop over much of Southern Alberta and there is an isolated chance of a tornado developing. Watches may be issued later on Tuesday, Environment Canada says.
