The RCMP have confirmed the deaths of two people near High River, an Alberta town hit hard by flooding in past day.
Mounties say that another body has been spotted in the river but hasn't yet been recovered. None have been identified.
Police say two people were spotted floating lifeless on the Highwood River yesterday, and their bodies were recovered Friday.
A woman who was reported missing after she was swept away with her camper into the Highwood River near Longview remains unaccounted for, while it wasn't clear whether a man who was seen falling out of a canoe was able to climb back in.
High River is one of the southern Alberta communities that have been hard hit by floods. The waters have destroyed houses, cut off roads and brought Calgary, one of the nation's largest cities, to a virtual halt.
According to CTV News, officials are doing door-to-door to make sure people have followed the mandatory evacuation order.
Police say they were able to rescue all residents stranded on their roofs using helicopters.
Staff at the High River hospital are working to evacuate patients and people who took shelter at the high school and hospital have been moved to the neighbouring town of Nanton and the hamlet of Blackie.
Canadian Forces and RCMP are securing the town, to make sure no one enters.
Authorities have been evacuating a number of communities in southern Alberta and 26 communities in Calgary.
