Calgary Flooding: Mayor Naheed Nenshi Praised For Leadership During Crisis

Nenshi Praised For Handling Of Flood Crisis

Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi is being praised for his calm, steady actions during the floods that have hit his city.

Nenshi, who was in Ottawa and Toronto earlier this week, flew back to Alberta once it became clear that the city would be hit by serious flooding. Nenshi surveyed areas close to Calgary's rivers, held a 5 a.m. scrum and somehow found time for a quick nap.

Early on Friday morning, Nenshi held a press conference that many on Twitter praised as a reassuring bit of leadership during a crisis.

Nenshi addressed false rumours about animals being evacuated from the zoo, curious photographers and praised emergency workers and Calgarians who took people in during the crisis. And he didn't stop there. The mayor was back out surveying flood damage later on Friday.
