A number of Alberta towns are under a boil water advisory, after heavy flooding and turbulent waters have churned up much of the province's rivers and tributaries, making the water unsafe for consumption.
Canmore's status has been upgraded, with all of the town now being asked to boil their water.
According to Alberta Health Services (AHS), Siksika First Nation, Exshaw, Lake Louise, High River, Harvie Heights, MD of Big Horn and Kananaskis are also under a boil water adviory.
AHS advises residents of these communities bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before consumption,which includes brushing teeth, drinking, cleaning raw foods, preparing drinks for infants and making ice.
Water for bathing and laundry does not need to be boiled.
Calgary residents can continue to drink the water, but city officials are asking that they limit water use by keeping showers to five minutes and baths shallow, using washing machines and dishwashers only when absolutely necessary and only with full loads, turning off taps when brushing teeth or shaving and reducing toilet flushing.
As well, city-wide, mandatory outdoor water restriction was issued on Saturday morning, under the Water Utility Bylaw.
