Calgary's public and Catholic schools will close early for the year, after significant flooding in the city this week.
In a joint announcement Sunday, the Calgary Board of Education and Calgary Catholic School District said they would close schools through Wednesday, so as not to put additional stress on roads, bridges and transit systems.
Students living in non-evacuated zones of the city can return to school Thursday to gather their belongings, return books and supplies and say their end-of-year farewells.
They will be dismissed at noon.
Some schools will reschedule exams, while others will offer exemptions.
The two boards also say before and after school care programs are also cancelled.
Families wanting more information should contact their local school board.
Several post-secondary schools in Calgary, including SAIT, Mount Royal, Bow Valley College and the University of Calgary, will also be closed until Wednesday.
