High River Flooding: Man Brandishes Knife At Police Officers

HIGH RIVER, Alta. - Police say a drunk man brandished a knife at officers stationed at a checkpoint in the flooded town of High River, Alta.

RCMP says a 24-year-old man, who lives in the town south of Calgary, demanded on Sunday night that he be allowed to return to his property.

Every resident was ordered out on Thursday when heavy rains inundated the town.

The man was arrested and charges are pending.

Mounties say the town is not yet safe and residents won't be allowed back in until it is.

Police say they are still going to all properties in the town to ensure everyone is out.
