Surrey RCMP need the public’s help after an elderly woman fought off a man who tried to sexually assault her on Saturday.

The woman, 74, was walking through the city’s Fleetwood Park area when she was approached by an unknown man around 8:15 p.m.

After a tussle, the suspect fled the scene on a BMX bike. He was seen heading eastbound on 80th Avenue.

The victim was taken to hospital, shaken, but without any injuries. Mounties believe this to be an isolated incident.

Police are looking for a suspect described as a white man, approximately 6-0 tall. He was wearing a grey and red Echo hoodie and blue jeans at the time of the attack.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
